Outdoor installation with grass balls.
This work wascreated during a residency at the Weir Farm National Historic Trust and was part of a series of works that reacted to the natural landscape of the Weir Farm property in Ridgefield, CT. In this installation, a boulder with a natural split is exploited as a cavity for the grass balls. Before the grass began growing the individual spherical balls stood out in repetion but as the grass grew the individual balls disappeared and the grass line emerged. this was a dramatic piece as the grass balls grew long, turned to seed and then died, completing a full natural cycle. The table in the image below accompanied the installation and served to contrast the natural elements of the surrounding landscape.
